Centroc reported its work in the energy sector was ramping up, with a strategic workshop with Essential Energy on December 13 to establish the current street lighting situation and discuss the next steps for the project.
Consultants will now work on a proposal including accelerated replacements with LEDs, replacement funding, the NSW Public Lighting Code and the Australian Energy Regulator’s 2019-2024 pricing review.
Centroc will fund the proposal.
However, councillor Sam Romano questioned whether LEDs were safe to use in fog.
“Orange lights are more visible in foggy conditions – maybe we should look into not pushing for LEDs in all locations,” he said.
General manager Garry Styles said LEDs did comply with the lighting code.
