On Friday children took part in a timed obstacle course that combined elements of gymnastics and parkour.
Among the children who took part in that activity in the gymnastics gym was Shailee Basford who said she enjoys going along to the school holiday program.
Shailee said she attends the program at the Orange PCYC most school holidays and meets new people and makes friends each time.
Children also got to exercise their minds with science based activities working with coloured dye and combining liquids and solids, popcorn and milk, to understand capacity and mass.
With one week of the holidays still to go, more activities have been planned for next week.
Orange PCYC assistant manager Dave Cleal said about 40 children a day have been attending the school holiday activities.
“We look like having that [number of children] next week as well,” Mr Cleal said.
“Obviously with the public holiday out next week as well.
“The kids are having fun.”
He said some of the events and activities scheduled for next week should interest the children.
“We’ve got some Indigenous games happening next Thursday,” Mr Cleal said.
He said the Indigenous games are always a particularly popular activity.
“We’ve got drumming coming up, bongo drumming,” Mr Cleal said.
“We’ve got lots of stuff in the gym and the court hire.”
Mr Cleal said the Orange PCYC can take up to 60 children,
“But 45 is a really great comfortable amount and all the kids are enjoying it,” he said.
“A lot of our kids are repeat customers because our program is so popular, which is great and we love having the kids here.
“Anyone who would like to come along can feel free to come along next week.”
As well as set events and planned activities, other popular children’s activities undertaken at the Orange PCYC during school holidays include a wide range of craft activities, building forts out of foam squares, playing of the courts, Singstar, colouring in and completing puzzles.
There are also sometimes excursions to see movies or go ten pin bowling.
The PCYC is in Seymour Street and school holiday activities cost $40 per child per day and run from 8.30am to 5.30pm on Monday, Tuesday, Thursday and Friday.
