Charles Everett said he spotted dust from the large mounds blowing across Dalton Street in the past week, which he considered a wider concern due to strong winds during the following days.

“It was going right across the road,” he said. 

“The day I was there, it hadn’t been watered down.”

Mr Everett said building sites were usually required to suppress dust.

“If I have a trailer-load of dirt, I have to have it covered,” he said. 

“[Orange City Council have] got stuff there that’s been there since January.”

Council spokesman Nick Redmond said the site was being monitored. 

“A water truck will be arranged to spray water on the piles to prevent dust,” he said. 

Demolition works started in August and finished in February, with the site considered a possible future home for the NSW Department of Primary Industries.
