All too often courteous drivers are the most annoying, especially on roundabouts.
Yes I know the RMS recently changed laws on giving way to pedestrians when turning into a street, but it doesn't apply to roundabouts.
Please just obey the road rules, let pedestrians fend for themselves unless of course they're elderly, or with child and you're 100 per cent certain it's safe to be nice.
As a pedestrian I have a better view of everything around me standing on the designated island, compared to you do in your two tonne tin-can.

Ah, you're now waiving at me to cross.
Oh no, but the nice safe gap behind you is closing as I stare at your courteous stupidity as the car coming down the road wonders why you've stopped two-car lengths back from the give way line.
I shake my head no, and gesture for you to continue, you look at me as if I'm the idiot.
And I stand again and wait for another gap in traffic – had you continued, I would have had enough time to safely walk behind your vehicle with no other traffic hazards, but no, you've banked up traffic and they're probably blaming the idiot standing on the island in the middle of the road.
Please just use common sense.
Road rules and predictability over courtesy, the courteous thing to do is to continue on your way as a road user, while I continue as a pedestrian.
