The Symphonic Wind Orchestra will perform in Cook Park in Orange on June 3 as part of the expanded Central West program, which will see the return of the Central West Hub in 2018, and will also give local music students the chance to join the orchestra in lessons.
Participants will eat, sleep and breathe the SYO tour lifestyle, joining the orchestra on the coach, sharing every meal and staying at the same accommodation for an immersive ensemble experience.
The tour, which also includes the Peter Seymour Orchestra, will make its way through Dubbo, Gilgandra, Forbes and Mudgee as it makes its way through the region.
SYO Senior Conductors visit and present a workshop to prepare participants in all aspects of the music they will be performing with an SYO orchestra on the first weekend of June.
These workshops will be held in Dubbo, and will give local young musicians a head start on learning their music and allow them to enjoy some extra tuition from SYO conductor Peter Corkill, the Peter Seymour Orchestra and the Symphonic Wind Orchestra conductors John Ockwell and James Pensini will also be teaching during their tours.
Head to www.syo.com.au/programs for more information on the workshops.
