Everything started coming together for Orange Emus in the second half of last weekend’s Blowes Clothing Cup win over Bathurst Bulldogs so on Saturday, naturally, the greens’ coaches Jeremy Wallace and Paul Ringland want their side to pick up where it left off.

Emus were clunky in their first-up win over Orange City and “passive” in the first 40 minutes of round two, but clicked into gear in the back end of the game to pile on 26 points to seven against the young Bathurst outfit.
“We spoke at half-time against Bulldogs about what we were doing, it wasn’t what we wanted and we let that game come to us rather than going out there and dictating from the first minute,” Wallace said, his side hosts the winless Cowra Eagles on Saturday.
“It started coming together in the second half though, we worked our patterns a lot better and there was a lot more intensity because we were passive in the first half. It was a lot slicker and we scored plenty of points on the back of that.
“So we definitely want to see that happen from the word go against Cowra this weekend. We wan to make sure we’re not waiting for it, that’s the biggest thing we want to happen this weekend.”
Wallace said the fact his side knows virtually zero about the Eagles will actually be a benefit in many ways, mainly because it means the greens will be able to focus completely on their own performance.
“They are an unknown and it’s actually really great to have them in the top tier, we really want to praise them for fighting hard to be in the Blowes Clothing Cup,” Wallace said.
“They’ll be tough, they always are but we don’t know a lot about them outside the fact they pushed Dubbo (Kangaroos) all the way last weekend, so we obviously won’t underestimate them and just try to make sure we’re executing our plans.”
Wallace said several of Emus’ starting XV are still to be confirmed but named a side with just one change from last weekend’s win over Bulldogs, with winger Harry Schleibs unavailable mercurial outside man Levi Russell is set to make his return this weekend.
Saturday’s round three clash kicks off at 3.15pm, at Endeavour Oval.
