A house in East Orange will be one of four options presented to people looking to move from the city to the country in the television series Escape from the City that will be shown on ABC TV later this year.
One Agency real estate licensee Ash Brown said the producers FremantleMedia would be filming in Orange this week.
“We were a bit chuffed that they want to have a look at this one,” he said.
“They asked for a house between $400,000 and $450,000, an older period style house in a country town,” he said.
Mr Brown said he understood the other two options for the people to consider were in Carcoar and Millthorpe.
The location of a fourth “mystery house” presented to the prospective buyers has not been disclosed.
He said the people would decide on the day they visited the four properties whether they were keen to buy any of them.
They will have to make up their minds quickly on the East Orange house as it is due to go to auction.
The ABC has announced the Australian version of the show will have five presenters.
They are actor and radio host Jane Hall, weekend radio presenter Simon Marnie, professional buyer’s agent Bryce Holdaway, ABC News Breakfast presenter and finance journalist Del Irani and carpenter and previous co-host of Best Houses Australia on 7TWO, Dean Ipaviz.
Mr Brown said when all the episodes of this first series were filmed it was likely the show would go to air about August.
He said the show would help promote Orange as a viable option for people from capital cities looking to change their lifestyle and move to the country.
