For those not yet FOOD full this is the final weekend to get satiated.
A train full of hungry visitors pulled into the Orange station at midday on Friday ready to experience some of the area’s best food and wine.
For Sydney resident Mary Dimech it was a return journey on the FOOD Train, after making the trip with a friend a couple of years ago.
“The train trip is absolutely fabulous,” said Mrs Dimech.
“Great food and great hospitality.”
Passengers onboard the booked out carriages sipped See Saw prosecco with their breakfast of fresh figs, grapes, yogurt, honey and bakery treats.
Ms Dimech is an executive assistant for an international company, while her partner Stewart Whitelaw works at college tutoring business.
She said the two of them consider themselves ‘wineys’ and ‘foodies’.
“We booked this trip well in advance because we know it sells out,” she said.
“I’ve been looking forward to it for months.
“I hope the weather holds out, last time it was beautiful.”
FOOD Train guests were off to the Orange Regional Museum Paddock to Plate exhibition on Friday afternoon, followed by dinner at Groundstone Cafe.
On Saturday the group will take a 3.5 kilometre stroll through vineyards and cattle property tasting food and wine at stations every 500 metres for Forage.
On Sunday the visitors will join the festivities at Cook Park for Sunday Producers’ Brunch and Market.
From 8-30am-12-30pm up-and-coming chefs will give cooking demonstrations in one of Orange’s prettiest parks while stallholders will offer tastings and advice on seasonal produce.
Orange Farmers Market is also on this Saturday, with more than 70 stallholders setting up at Northcourt, behind the art gallery from 8:30-12:00pm.
Ms Dimech said her load was a little heavier on the return journey last visit, as she’d discovered lots of new wines to take home.
“I’m already on the hunt for the Racine Bakery cheese biscuits we had onboard this morning,” she said.
