Despite the cooler weather, Friends of the Orange Botanic Gardens are encouraging everyone to get outside and get their hands dirty this Sunday.
The group is inviting green thumbs and aspiring green thumbs to attend its Autumn Plant Sale.
“Now is the perfect time to plant as the winter time allows roots to get settled ” said Dennis Croucher.
“While you may not see a lot of action above the ground in the colder months, assuming we get a little rain, the roots are settling in.”
A selecting of salvias, succulents and lemongrass plants are among the plants available, mostly below five dollars.
Mr Croucher said his best gardening advice is to keep things watered and treat your plants like your friends.
“Go out and say g’day everyday,” he said.
Pre-loved magazines and gardening books will also be available 8:30am-12pm.
