Most of the country turned back the clocks on Sunday and while we all knew it was happening, I suspect I’m not the only one who didn’t (doesn’t) know what it meant.

“If you turn your watch back before bed it’ll be darker when you wake up and it’ll be Christmas in Queensland,” I told friends.

“It’ll mean that when you wake up it’ll feel like 8am but it’ll really be April Fools, 2017.”

Secretly I didn’t actually acknowledge the time change at all over the weekend.

As an iPhone owner who isn’t required anywhere before Easter Tuesday I curled up on Saturday night and happily let technology take care of me.

I woke at some time on Sunday and something had changed and my iphone updated itself without me thinking about it or telling it too.

As a result I have been reaping the benefits of this inexplicable new event we are calling ‘daylight savings end’ all week.

It is a lovely surprise to find more sunshine streaming through your windows before work – even if you’re not sure why.
