Set up as a small, family-oriented centre using the inspired philosophy of Rudolf Steiner techniques, the children’s day care centre has been a hub for Millthorpe and surrounding families since 2005.
The Steiner programme uses natural toys and equipment, wholesome morning teas and plenty of free play in an idyllic setting.
The community of Millthorpe, especially staff and families of Millthorpe Children's Garden, are still in shock after hearing the news of the closure.
One of the licensees, Judith Boag, was saddened by the closure.
“It has been 12 magical years with so many hundreds of young children sharing memories of their childhood at this centre,” Mrs Boag said.
“I am very proud of our director and staff who have always provided a quiet and loving environment for children that inspires creativity.
“Unfortunately, the population of the village and the surrounding area is too small to sustain two childcare centres and Millthorpe Children's Garden has had to call it a day,” she said.
Mrs Boag wishes to thank the families of Millthorpe and surrounds for entrusting their children to the centre and for their support over 12 wonderful years.
The child care centre is holding a major garage sale on Saturday, March 31.
