Kite Street Dental, run by Dr Francois Bothma, is joining forces with Maven Dental Group.
The Gold Coast-based group has about 90 practices across Australia.
Dr Bothma said Maven would take over the administrative and accounts side of the business from April 1 and free him up to concentrate on the clinical side.
“The practice has grown tremendously, it is getting more and more difficult to manage on my own,” he said.
“I can concentrate more on the clinical side.
“It will allow us to grow even more, we are looking at a third surgery.”
Dr Bothma said the changes would not lead to staff cuts or a name change, in fact opening a third surgery would lead to the appointment of another dentist.
ECO EFFORT
Bills Beans is cutting the amount of plastic bags to landfill by investing instead in drums to deliver bulk coffee to its customers.
Factory Espresso is one of the cafes using the beans, which now receives reusable nine-kilogram drums of beans, rather than nine one-kilogram bags.
Owner Nick Gleeson said it would save 520 bags a year from going to landfill.
“The response has been really supportive,” he said.
DIAMOND TOUCH
TWO long-term friends with a shared passion for hair and beauty have decided to take the leap into starting a business together.
Sierra Leone Hair and Beauty opened last week in Byng Street, named after the Sierra Leone Diamond, offering cuts, colours, hair extensions, waxing and other beauty services.
Senior hairdresser Sarah Kain said she and owner Alana Cantrill had been working towards the business for some time and nabbed the location for its closeness to the main shopping areas.
“It just worked all round.”
COLOUR HAPPY
Sweet Sour Salt’s Anson Street location has been named as a finalist in the 2018 Dulux Colour Awards.
The awards celebrate exceptional use of colour by Australian and New Zealand designers in commercial and residential spaces.
The business has been listed in the Commercial Interior – Public Spaces and Hospitality category.
