Percy – a giant papier mache pig – will depart from Roberston Park at 10am on Sunday, April 8, beginning its long journey to Boorowa to raise money to assist rural and regional kids access higher education and training.
The initiative asks sponsors and volunteers to push Percy 200 kilometres in only seven days, with donations collected along the way.
Percy’s overnight stops will be at Nashdale, Cargo, Canowindra and Cowra.
“Every young person deserves the opportunity to access education and training no matter where they live, and we’re excited to hit the road again to get this message in the spotlight,” organiser Justin Fleming said.
“We want to see as many people as possible come out and support the Country Education Foundation and Percy.”
This year is the 25th anniversary of the charity’s first grant to a rural and regional student.
More than 4000 students have received a helping hand from the CEF and its volunteers in local communities who support their young people.
