Residents’ frustrations with the Return and Earn scheme at North Orange are continuing, with reports the container is repeatedly closed when they visit.

One such resident is Rodney Soo, who has visited four times in the past two weeks and said he was losing faith in the system.
All four times he visited the scheme was closed, waiting for a truck to come and empty the full reverse-vending machine.
“Each time we went it was always full, and it could be us picking the wrong time to go but it’s like my son doing statistics … I go there four times and four times it’s closed.”
He currently has “half a trailer load” of recycling he wants to redeem, but said that plays into another problem – the scheme takes time to process each bottle, meaning bigger loads can take far longer.
He said he wished there was more information available for people to know when the scheme was working.
Return and Earn did not respond to request for comment.
