More than 1100 people across Australia died from the flu last year, with most of them over the age of 65.
It’s prompted the government to make free flu shots available to the age group.
From April, all NSW children between six months and five years old will also be offered free flu jabs.
There were more than 12,000 cases of flu in young children last year.
