However, it proved to be slightly stranger than normal after one of our reporters received a phone call from the RSPCA in Orange.
The reason for the call was the RSPCA had picked up an 11-year-old Labrador-Dalmation mix, and our reporter’s direct phone line was listed as the contact on the microchip.
The reporter doesn’t own a dog.
There is a happy ending to the story – the stray has found a forever home with a foster family.
But having now googled pictures of Labrador-Dalmation crosses, our reporter is regretting saying a potential new best friend wasn’t theirs.
