Their opening game saw Orange’s Rachel Divall take the captaincy after the top-aged player filled in for the Tasmanian open side last week.
Divall lead from the front, scoring two goals, one in either half, as NSW proved far too dominant for the Sunshine state.
Her first goal game in the 17th minute of the first half from a penalty corner, and the second in the 36th minute of the second half – capping a period where NSW scored four times in six minutes, including two goals in a minute.
She was joined by 19-year-old Chloe Barrett, also from Orange.
Barrett didn’t hit the scoreboard but did pick up a green card – meaning a minute on the sidelines – with two minutes to go.
Emma Corcoran, formerly of Dubbo, also scored for NSW, sending one into the back of the net in the 26th minute of the second half.
Bathurst’s Sarah Watterson also took to the field for NSW.
NSW played their second game overnight against Victoria, and play tournament favourites WA on Wednesday morning at 9.30am, and ACT at 7.30pm Wednesday.
The finals will be played on Thursday.
