A rainbow flag will be set up in the Summer Street side of Cook Park at 1pm for supporters to gather.
The event is being run by the Western Area Gay and Lesbian Support group (WAGALS) for its members, other people who identify as LGBTIQA+ and family and friends who want to show their support are also welcome.

However, organiser Paula Beattie said she wanted to hold a picnic to get into the spirit but then the historic yes vote was passed.
She said it started with an idea of inviting a few friends but then the bill went through parliament faster than she expected.
