The money was raised from sales of the ‘Beer Keeper’ ale, made by 1859 Central Ranges Brewery and Sydney’s Young Henrys.
“There was only 20 kegs of The Beer Keeper ever made. As the last schooners are poured at The Greenhouse or Beekeepers Inn following the launch, we will keep donating all proceeds to the Borenore Men’s Shed,” The Greenhouse’s manager Brian Cook said
“Only a handful of the limited edition longnecks are available at The Greenhouse.
“100 per cent of the profit of these beers is donated thanks to Young Henrys, who are pitching in to help bring attention to men’s health in our region.”
Harry L’Estrange won the best moustache prize.
Meanwhile, plenty of men around Orange are sporting their own moustaches.
Charles Sturt University’s Nik Granger is looking to crack the $500 mark before the end of the month.
Mr Granger works for the university’s division of student services and with mo-growers in Orange, Bathurst and Albury they’ve raised $1300.
It’s the second time he’s grown a moustache after first taking part in 2007.
“Working at university, we’ve helped a number of students with mental health issues – it’s a big part of my motivation,” he said.
If you haven’t been growing a moustache but want to contribute – Lan Snowden has organised a Movember event for Friday.
It kicks off at 6pm at the Robin Hood Hotel with a mechanical bull, live music from Dallas Webb and footballer Tom Goolagong will have his chest waxed.
If $10,000 is raised, John “Flappy” Parker will shave off his beard, but Mr Snowden said raising more than $3500 would be a good effort.
As well as meat trays, $100 club and raffles, a prize for the best moustache will be awarded.
“I’m a short favourite to win,” Mr Snowden joked.
All money raised will go to the Movember campaign and Mr Snowden said the annual event had momentum.
“Men’s health, especially mental health is something that’s important,” he said.
Orange’s Glenn Atkinson is doing his first Movember and has just ticked over $500.
“My mates and family taking great delight in sledging me about how bad my mo is. It’s all worth it if it gets people talking about men’s health issues,” Mr Atkinson said.
He said men could be hopeless in going to the doctor’s for a check-up, not admitting when they weren’t feeling well, either physically or mentally, and asking for help.
