John William Kay, 19, of Matilda Avenue at Clifton Grove, had been driving a Holden Commodore at 2.40am when police saw him turn right onto Molong Road without indicating.
The police stopped him for the breath test and Kay, who was a provisional driver, returned a positive reading.
He was arrested and taken to Orange Police Station for a breath analysis, which recorded a reading of 0.081.
According to police facts, Kay consumed four or five pre-mixed vodka drinks in three hours.
He was represented by solicitor Paul Longhurst and was fined $750 and his licence was disqualified for six months.
“He’s got no record, he will learn from this,” he said.
