If you consider that council spent in the last year several million on a single road in Orange the economics look favourably on the side of the debate to have hot mix plant in Orange on that statistic alone.
You only have to look at the areas in Orange that have hot mix roads compared to those that don’t.
If the decision is made on this measure alone then common sense logic dictates that the hot mix approach is worth the investment as it will pay for itself with near zero maintenance returns and at the same time improve road infrastructure in Orange overnight.
It will also give the residents confidence that we – their council – have made a decision for the future and in the best interests of Orange.
No longer will visitors and residents say when they are coming in to Orange “you know you are near or in Orange when you hit a pothole ...”.
