CYMS skipper Hamish Finlayson said he was hoping a good pre-season would hold them in good stead heading into round one.
“We’ve been training together for the last month or so fairly consistently, and some of the boys have been doing net sessions on their own,” Finlayson said.
However, last year’s minor premiers – who were beaten in an upset in the decider by Cavaliers – said he was ready for anything on Saturday.
“You never know how the first game of the season will go,” he said.
“You don’t know what to expect.
“The Centrals are always a strong side so we’ll be ready.”
Finlayson said he was hoping two of the younger members of the side would start the season well.
“We’re looking at some of the younger blokes to stand up in Mickey Hannelly and Mitch Winslade,” he said.
CYMS host Centrals at Wade Park at 1pm.
