The Bloomfield Hospital / Riverside Auxiliary has raised $9659 in its giant raffle fundraiser.
Auxiliary member Sister Mary Trainor said it is the best the auxiliary have ever done.
“This will go a good way to helping our clientele enjoy Christmas and responding to other requests,” Sister Mary said.
The raffle was drawn on Wednesday by Orange mayor Reg Kidd.
The $1000 prize was won by Karen Johnson.
The nine other winners were George Eleftheriou, P Wake, M Davis, L Matilka, Mary Menzies, K Theobald, Katia Whiteman, D Powell and Ron Parker.
Sister Mary said the giant raffle is an annual event and requires a lot of volunteers to sell tickets in Orange during part of July, August, September and part of October.
“We are indebted to all the people who have so generously supported us both by donating prizes, and by purchasing tickets,” Sister Mary said.
Sister Mary said the auxiliary formed in 1983 and the current name was introduced in 1986.
“Our branch focuses on providing amenities and comforts at both personal and communal levels, as well as recreational and therapeutic aids to enhance the life and lifestyle of our clientele both on and off the campus,” Sister Mary said.
She said the auxiliary does not conduct activities in hospital wards or residences but attends to requests channeled through nursing unit or other managers.
