Canobolas Local Area Command police and fire officers were called to Lone Pine Avenue just before 7am on Sunday after reports a ute was on fire.
Acting Inspector Yonneka Hill said the Mazda Bravo ute was found alight on a field.
She said police were waiting to speak to the owner to determine the circumstances.
It is the latest in a series of similar fires.
Previous incidents have involved utes being stolen from outside houses across Orange and then set alight.
Acting Inspector Hill said the targets seemed to be Ford Courier and Mazda Bravo utes.
She urged people to make sure their utes were locked and that they remove any valuables, including tools, when they were parked.
