It’s the Bathurst 1000.
Last year Davison and Jono Webb came from 17th on the grid to claim the chequered and hoist the Peter Brock Trophy aloft.
It was a moment which Davison, who also won the 2009 Bathurst 1000 alongside Garth Tander, relished.
“I think it’s obviously incredibly special to win the Bathurst 1000, the Peter Brock Trophy for us drivers as of today,” he said.
Brock, the man who’s name is on the trophy, was a nine-time winner of the Great Race.
Davison feels that what he and other drivers did in the past has helped the race gain the status it holds today.
“With Bathurst, with the 1000, that is the one race that hits home, that has a lot of meaning to a lot of people and had an incredible history,” he said.
“That’s all thanks to the heroes and legends of our sport who have obviously created so many fairy tales and memories and given young drivers dreams and built that race up and mountain up to what it is today.
“We’ve got to be thankful as drivers, as a sport, that that race carries so much meaning and I think it’s really important that we are paying tribute to the history of the sport and we continue to do that.
“I’ve just got so much respect for the way they went about the business.”
