Club member Ian Davison said club decided to act after hearing from Orange’s Matt Bryant on how his guide dog, Bronco, had changed his life.
He said it was one of the first dogs funded by the city.
“It’s quite amazing to see a guide dog work and how they protect and guide their handlers through crowd and around town,” Mr Davison said.
Mr Davison said the club had a lot of help from residents and businesses in the community to raise the sum required.
As Guide Dogs NSW/ACT Central West spokesman and a handler Mr Bryant said what the club had raised would “change someone’s life for the better”.
“It’s fantastic that my presentation I gave them last year has had this reaction,” he said.
“It will give a blind or vision impaired person the independence they may not have at the moment.
“I can speak from experience about how grateful someone will be when they get a guide dog.”
