James Sheahan Catholic High School has long been a nursing ground for NSW Catholic Combined Colleges (CCC) stars and that’s no different in 2017, considering the efforts of Abby Dean, Millah Allcorn and Connor Morris.

Dean, a triathlete, dominated for NSWCCC at the NSW All Schools Triathlon Championship in February while Allcorn and Morris are gearing up for an assault on the hockey equivalent in June.
The former was so good, finishing fifth in the junior girls’ solo race, she’s earned NSW All School honours for the first time as a result.
That’s what’s on the line for Allcorn and Morris too, they’ll play off against NSW Combined High Schools and Combined Independent Colleges for the title and places in their respective girls’ and boys’ All Schools sides.
Allcorn and Morris, on the other hand, are both gearing up for an assault on this year’s NSW All Schools Hockey Championship with their respective girls’ and boys’ CCC sides in June.
None of three were truly expecting the call-up.
“I came fifth, the top four automatically went through and then they picked the rest of the side from the top 10,” Dean said.
Dean, a member of Mel Ashton-Garard’s HyPER Hy Performance Squad, clocked 43.54 to finish fifth, she was 2.31 behind winner Erin Wooldridge (41.23).
Dean, happy with fifth, came out of the water in 7.04 and then clocked 21.08 on the bike to be sitting fourth at the second transition.
“I was fourth and then one of the other girls overtook me on the run,” the 13-year-old year eight student explained, her mark in that leg with 15.42.
Allcorn and Morris, who play Premier League Hockey for Confederates and Wanderers respectively, dominated at last week’s Bathurst Diocesan carnival to be named in their CCC sides.
I’ll just go down, have fun, do my best and see what happens.

“I’m pretty happy with [being selected],” Allcorn, 16, smiled.
She went on to say, being her first year in NSW colours, she has no clue what to expect at the All Schools tri-series, outside tough hockey.
“CHS will be really competitive I think,” she said.
“I’m just going to play my game I suppose, I wouldn’t expect to get named for the All Schools side though.
“I think I’ll just try and get some experience (at this level). I’ve played against one of the other girls, but I have no idea who the rest of the girls are.”
“I’ll just go down, have fun, do my best and see what happens,” Morris, 17 and in year 12, said.
“It’ll be good fun to play against some of the guys I’ve played with here if they make [the CHS or CIS] teams.”
Not knowing your teammates can make preparation difficult, Allcorn and Morris explained, however they’re both confident their respective sides can pull together in their bids to claim titles.
“We do all our own training, but we’re all sort of at that level already so the coaches will give us a game plan we can work with,” Allcorn explained.
The 2017 Australian Schools Triathlon Festival is later this month while the NSW All Schools Hockey Championship is on June 19.
