Last year’s co-mentors Keiran Gentles and Matt Johnson indicated they would step back from the role in the new year, but crucially for the Wanderers the dynamic duo will continue to lead the way in a playing capacity.
Wanderers boss Adam Hurford said the club was currently going through its coaching applications with training to commence in the coming weeks ahead of the men’s April 28 round one start date.
Hurford confirmed the club has also been able to hold on to the majority of its squad, which hopes to build on its sixth place finish in 2016.
“At this point I think we’ve picked up a player Micky Dillion knows, but the bulk of the squad will be the same,” Hurford said.
“The difference will be guys like Lukey and Adam Skelton, Henry Jones and Connor Morris, those young guys are keen to get into it.
“Having those guys raring to go will be great. The skills they have, old blokes like me learn things from them every week.”
The Wanderers president said it was time his club stepped up and made a mark on the premiership, dominated by the likes of Lithgow Panthers and Bathurst clubs Souths and St Pat’s in recent years.
“We’ve been together now for a number of seasons. We’ve got to step it up, but I think everyone is keen to do that. We’ll get stuck into training and build from there.”
