It has always been of great interest to a wide range of visitors.
Those who have been involved in agriculture for many years are often able to identify a good number of the various plants on display.
But, because of the diverse area ranging from the Central Tablelands and the Central West Slopes and Plains from which plants are sourced, there are very few people, even experienced farmers, who can identify all the plants.
With the changing focus that is evident in agriculture and lifestyle in the region, the plant display allows everyone the opportunity to see firsthand the native grasses, improved pasture varieties and the weeds that may be encountered in the area.
Visitors are encouraged to take along plants for identification as the Plant Display site has a very knowledgeable team of agronomists who will be on hand each day.
The staff will be wearing an “ASK ME” badge and will be very happy to chat to you about our display or your “mystery” plants.
The Plant Display will provide an excellent opportunity for the ever increasing number of hobby farmers and people living on small area blocks in our region to discuss grasses, trees, weeds and the various aspects of Biosecurity with our Plant Display Team.
Visitors will also be able to enter the Mystery Plant Competition.
There will be a potted plant available for examination and if visitors feel that they can identify this plant, they can submit their entry to be in running for one of two $100 prizes.
One prize will be for Juniors (school students) and the other will be in the Open Section (for all others).
The Plant Display will be located in the Trevor Elliott Pavilion which is opposite the Australian National Field Days office.
Be sure to call in to see not only the plants, but the complete Education Section display.
There will be something for everyone.
