“The NSW Soil Knowledge Network (SKN) is a group of retired scientists who can't get the passion for soils out of their blood,” said former Soil Knowledge Network president John Lawrie said.
SKN was established in late 2013 and is a group of retired or semi-retired soil specialists who seek to transfer their knowledge to the next generation of land managers.
They have diverse experience and knowledge for different soils across most parts of the state and are a highly valuable resource.
Current projects include:
- Promoting the adoption of an effective state soil policy
- Technical soil workshops for both professional soil advisors and farmers;
- Collection of legacy soil information for a public online library; and
- Educational video series.
