Trio appear in court over alleged weekend assault and robbery in Lords Place

TWO men and a woman have faced Orange Local Court over the alleged assault and robbery of a woman and her son in Orange on the weekend when firearms and a tomahawk were used.

Alicia Marie Howarth, 29, of Bourke was granted bail  after being charged with concealing a serious indictable offence, while Alan Edwards, 25, also of Bourke was refused bail on two charges of armed robbery with an offensive weapon.

Kurt Douglas Edwards, 26, of Orange, was refused bail, charged with two counts of robbery armed with an offensive weapon and robbery armed with a dangerous weapon.

Police say about 6.30pm on Saturday a 43-year-old woman was at a house in Lords Place when she answered a knock on the front door.

The trio spoke to the woman before leaving the premises, however, they allegedly returned a short time later.

One of the men produced a firearm, striking the woman on the head, before stealing an iPad and a handbag, and threatened the woman’s 13-year-old son.

The trio will reappear in court early in July.
