Molong and Manildra were the destinations on the Around the Towns Tour on Saturday, November 7 where the band performed their new repertoire for residents under the baton of bandmaster Leon Paix, thanks to support from Arts NSW.
Publicity officer John Moss said the band loved performing for people in the central west.
“The band as a whole see a huge benefit in engaging with the community; we are a community band,” Mr Moss said.
“It’s all about taking the band out to outlying towns we would not normally engage with, which is a major objective of the [Arts NSW] grant. It’s a fun day out for the band.”
Tomorrow will see the 30-strong band back in Cook Park for its next monthly recital, where people can listen to an hour’s performance by the brass band for free.
“We have a selection of music to suit a wide variety of music tastes,” Mr Moss said.
“In our repertoire, we’ve got anything from Queen’s greatest hits to traditional marches, hymn tunes, to Mozart, Glen Miller and movie themes.”
Mr Moss said the band has a “very busy Christmas schedule” and playing at a range of functions, including Carols by Candlelight on December 12.
