It is the festival’s 10th anniversary, and chairperson Michelle Stivens said to celebrate the milestone, the committee had organised over 90 different events scattered across October 16 to November 1.
She said the festival had remained a popular date on people’s calendars over the last decade because it perfectly captured the spirit of Orange’s wine and food culture.
“I think the calibre of product we offer, the setting of Orange and the fantastic food that complements the wine. It’s all of Orange - what we have to offer,” Mrs Stivens said.
Committee member David Crawley said the festival had gone from strength to strength as word got around of Orange’s reputation as the “premier cool climate wine region in NSW”.
“More and more people want to get out of Sydney to taste some of the best cool climate wine and explore the beautiful Orange region,” Mr Crawley said.
Mrs Stivens said one of the events to look out for during the festival was the Wine in the Vines on October 24, which was building on the success of the inaugural event last year.
“Let us be your designated driver and let us take you around to a number of different wineries. It’s a progressive style lunch. There are tastings and you get to meet the makers,” she said.
Copies of the program are available from many cafes and restaurants around Orange, or can be found online at www.orangewinefestival.com.au.
