Led by league guns Brock McGarity and Terry Brown, the Legends tore throughout the Mullets to win the annual 10s tournament, an event that was this year contested by teams as far away as Narromine, Canowindra, Bathurst and, perhaps at a stretch, the pacific islands.
“We played the Island Boys twice,” ABAS forward Josh Maley said.
“We’re all feeling a bit sore and sorry for ourselves this morning.”
Maley said the tournament was a good warm-up for the 2015 Blowes Clothing Cup, with the majority of the Lions partaking in the tournament via entries in the Legends, the Mullets and two Orange City line-ups.
“We enjoy it,” Maley added.
“We’ve had a group of mates come together and play for one of our mates who died a few years ago now.
“It’s good to get together and catch up.”
For the Jack Blunt Legends, McGarity and Brown assisted in the side’s unbeaten run to the semi-finals, where they accounted for perennial 10s contenders the YBM Chargers 24-0.
Surprisingly, the ABAS hammered the Island Boys 24-0 in their semi-final as well.
In the plate and division two deciders, the Bathurst Bulldogs edged out the Central West Colts 24-7 and Narromine accounted for Canowindra 28-7 respectively.
