THREATENING skies cleared up just in time for the Banjo Paterson Festival night market to go ahead on Friday night and it was a great success according to organisers.

Around 2000 people flocked to the park to sample the offerings from food and wine producers.
“All the stallholders were very happy as they were well supported, and many sold out,” Taste Orange marketing manager Charlotte Gundry said.
The market was hosted by Taste Orange in conjunction with Rotary Club of Orange members and entrance was by a gold coin donation.
“It will go towards our expenses for the night,” Ms Gundry said.
Children were kept entertained with face painting and climbing on the historic fire engine, which used to operate in Orange last century.
Gabe Music provided entertainment for the night.
Ms Gundry said although the night market is on a smaller scale to the FOOD Week market in April and the Wine Week market night for later in the year, it has established a place as part of any future Banjo Paterson Festival celebrations.
“I spoke with plenty of visitors and everyone was very relaxed and enjoying the night,” Ms Gundry said.
This year visitors used a specially designed poly carbonate glass which is aimed at enhancing the wine drinking experience.
“They were great - we had them originally for our Martin Place event and they were left over.
“Its not like drinking out of plastic at all,” Ms Gundry said.
