ORANGE resident Colin Spicer is “devastated” thieves stole his father’s guitar and a flat screen television while the legally blind man slept in his Allenby Road home.

Mr Spicer’s father, Roy, died three years ago and Colin had been learning to play the instrument because it reminded him of all the good times he spent with his father.
“It was my whole life, music. I grew up with it. That’s why the guitar meant so much to me,” he said.
His father was an Orange “country music pioneer” Mr Spicer said, and he had recorded several albums using that black Yamaha.
The assailant walked in the side door of the garage sometime between 7pm and 7am on Monday night, Tuesday morning and took the items because Mr Spicer had left the door unlocked.
He said he felt foolish and he should have known better but he called on the people or person who took the guitar to bring it back.
“I am not too worried about the TV, but that guitar, it’s special” Mr Spicer said.
“I feel totally violated and gutted.”
Mr Spicer has lost 75 per cent of his vision from a degenerative eye condition and the flat screen was a 40 inch television which was big enough for him to watch it.
The television also came from his dad’s estate and he kept it in the garage for when he was out there working.
“It really annoys me, people who steal things ... that guitar has a lot of sentimental value,” he said.
If the guitar is returned undamaged, Mr Spicer will not say anything further about the matter.
He asked if the thieves could simply put it back, or leave it somewhere he could find it easily.
The plain black Yamaha was not in its case when it was stolen.
The theft was reported to police.
