Spotlight management has signed a 10-year lease to operate out of the Orange Homemaker Centre at a site previously occupied by a furniture and home ware retailer.
A spokesperson from centre owner, Sentinel Property Group, confirmed it had secured the national retailer and hoped to announce the arrival of other tenants soon.
“National fabric, craft and homemaker retailer Spotlight has committed to 1800 square metres of prominent retail space at the Orange Homemaker Centre on a 10-year lease,” the spokesperson said.
“Spotlight is currently in the process of fitting out its new Orange store for an impending opening.”
The retailer is also currently interviewing staff and is expected to open within the next two weeks.
“Sentinel is now pleased to be adding Spotlight to its tenancy mix, in what is another high-profile addition to the Orange Homemaker Centre that will deliver significant value to the property and benefits to the local Orange community,” the spokesperson said.
“A number of other national retailers that currently do not have a presence in Orange have also expressed strong interest to Sentinel in opening at the centre.”
Since acquiring 72,900 square metres of land on the Mitchell Highway, including the shopping centre, Sentinel has progressed with plans to develop additional retail floor space on the adjoining 10,430sqm of vacant land.
“Sentinel has lodged a development application with Orange City Council to develop approximately 4500sqm of new gross floor area on the adjoining vacant land fronting directly onto the Mitchell Highway,” the spokesperson said.
The $5 million development will house further bulky goods retailers as well as some takeaway food outlets and additional on site car parking.
The Orange Homemaker Centre, comprising three separate buildings with a total area of 17,535sqm, currently houses a number of large retailers including Harvey Norman, Bunnings, BCF and Autobarn.
