Coote was named in an extended 16-man squad for the camp, designed to increase development and professionalism after 2013-14’s NSW Country Championship capitulation where Western failed to win a game.
Coote represented Western in season 2010-11 - he also represented NSW Country Colts that year - before plying his trade for several seasons with Western Suburbs in the Sydney Grade Cricket competition.
The 22-year-old returned to Orange City last season, but had little impact on the representative scene as he battled an ongoing shoulder problem.
“I’m really keen for it,” he said.
“I plateaued a bit last year, but hopefully this can help me develop further and gives me a foot in the door for this kind of representative thing.
“I was never 100 per cent last season, which virtually ruled me out of Western Zone selection. I’d love to get a run this season, I’ve played at that level before and feel like I’m capable.”
“I played with Jackson my first year back from Sydney,” Western skipper Pat Rosser said.
“He was just a kid, since then he’s been to Sydney and has no doubt developed.
“I’m looking forward to seeing how he goes. He is someone we really think could lead a Western Zone attack and the camp will help him get to that point.”
