Four teams will represent Orange at the NSW event at Berkeley, with the 12s, 13s and 14s lining up in their division two competitions, while the 15s will contest the championship division for their age.
Sally Wilson, who is coaching the 15s team, said her girls would have a tough weekend, but they were equipped to play in the top division.
“The majority of the girls play division one in Orange, so that gives them exposure and experience,” Wilson said.
“They’re very capable girls, they’ve just got to believe in themselves.”
The 14s team, coached by Tegan Dray, is out to record a top-10 finish in their division two competition.
“We’ve played a few of the teams in carnivals, so we’ve had a look at them already which is good,” Dray said of the opposition.
“We’ve been training for about eight months, so it’s a bit exciting to get to this point.”
Michael Rudd will coach the 13 years side and they’re hoping to improve on the seventh place they recorded in the 12 years competition in 2013.
Rudd said the team’s excellent full-court defence would be key to them performing well.
Orange’s 12 years players will enjoy their first State Age Championship as they are the youngest group.
They will be coached by Katrina Hausia, and play in the division two competition.
The 12s and 13s will each have 16 games across the three days and the 14s will play 19 games, while the 15s will have a whopping 21 games.
