FORMER Orange councillor and now Greens MP Jeremy Buckingham was on Thursday ejected from the Legislative Council until the end of the current sitting by president Don Harwin, after a fiery exchange about the proposed Needles Gap dam during question time.

He was ejected because he questioned the integrity of the president after Mr Buckingham was ruled out of order twice in 24 hours.

The first was after he called the government hypocrites over coal seam gas mining and the second referred to the proposed dam.

Mr Buckingham accused Minister for Roads and Freight Duncan Gay of using a racial slur to attack those who questioned the need for the dam.

Mr Buckingham said Mr Gay had quoted a commentator on the Central Western Daily website who wrote: “We cannot go back to running around with spears and boomerangs.”
