ORANGE sport fanatic Matt Tedeschi is willing to sacrifice a good night’s sleep for the sake of watching his beloved rugby league and World Cup sides.

He and other sport supporters will juggle sleep on Wednesday as they attempt to watch both the State of Origin match at 7.30pm and the Australia vs Netherlands football match at 2am.
Mr Tedeschi will attempt to sleep at the conclusion of the Origin match at 10pm and will wake up to his alarm prior to the football match kicking off, giving him a four-hour power nap before spending the next two hours watching the World Cup match.
He will then face the daunting task of waking up later in the morning to prepare for a day of work, starting at 9am.
He admits he will be very tired all day.
Mr Tedeschi is a huge follower of the maroons, despite living in blues territory.
He believes the NSW side is the best it has been in years and they should win, especially with injuries to Queensland’s key players, Cooper Cronk and Daly Cherry-Evans.
“I would have to say the NSW side is stronger and I expect them to win, but I will be cheering Queensland on from the edge of my seat,” he said.
“I only watch the Socceroos matches during the World Cup. It is exciting to support Australia once every four years on an international stage. I don’t watch or care much about their matches any other time.”
The Netherlands should easily beat Australia and Mr Tedeschi does not give Australia much of a chance, however, he believes anything could happen.
“Not many people expected the Netherlands to beat Spain, it just goes to show you that upsets do happen,” he said.
He joked that if Australia lost by anything less than seven goals it should be considered a victory, however, he said it was not about winning the World Cup for Australia, but about the development and growth of the sport across the country.
