Anglicare administration assistant Christie McGuirk said a number of families in Orange had already benefited from the food drive and she hoped many more would make use of the food and personal items which are still being collected.
“It’s been absolutely brilliant, we’ve had bags of food dropped into us and it’s all been good quality,” Ms McGuirk said.
“A lot of the food has been brand names, some people have been going through their pantries and other people have been just dropping off grocery bags of food that they’ve bought when they’ve been shopping.”
Ms McGuirk said the donated food would help “take the burden off people” who are battling to put food on their tables.
“We’ve had families coming in to see us for food and we’d like to keep this going,” she said.
“All the food that’s been donated has been very much appreciated and it hasn’t gone unnoticed.”
Anyone wishing to donate to Anglicare can drop items into the collection bin at the Central Western Daily, 132 Kite Street, or at other locations throughout the city including the Good Start Early Learning Centre, the Holy Trinity office, Bendigo Bank, Westpac, Bissy’s Cafe and Anglicare’s office at 1 Hampden Avenue.
Anyone wanting to have a container delivered to their workplace should contact Anglicare.
The container will be picked up when it is full.
