The Orange and District Pistol Club member was kept busy last month with two state championship events, where he proved to be competitive.
At the South Australian titles on September 14 and 15, Wicks took out the A grade service pistol title with a score of 856 out of 900.
He also finished second in the service pistol unrestricted event with 875.
A week later he was at the Victoria state titles.
He finished second in the WA1500 revolver master grade competition with a score of 1471 out of 1500.
He was also runner-up in the service pistol 25 yard event with a score of 622 out of 650.
These two competitions have helped Wicks prepare for the WA1500 World Championships which will be held in Perth next month.
Orange’s Dean Brus and Dave Oates will compete at the international event in Perth as part of the Australian team.
