Mr Sattler resigned from Orange Regional Conservatorium late last year and has continued teaching and conducting community programs both in Orange and other regions throughout the year.
Mr Sattler said he was thrilled with his appointment and is looking forward to the challenge of embracing the Mitchell Conservatorium and its high reputation in the community.
“It is wonderful to be part of a progressive organisation which is an essential part of the New South Wales music education landscape,” Mr Sattler said.
Outgoing executive director Fiona Thompson said she was pleased the Mitchell Conservatorium would continue to thrive and grow under Mr Sattler’s direction.
“I am happy to leave the conservatorium in the hands of a music educator of the calibre of Graham Sattler,” she said.
Conservatorium board chairwoman professor Tara Brabazon also welcomed Mr Sattler.
“We are in for an exciting, innovative and dynamic era for music education in our region,” she said.
“Mr Sattler is the ideal appointment for this moment in the Mitchell Conservatorium’s history.”
