The team had its final training session last week in Orange under the guidance of coach Tom Hodgson and manager Kyle Webb.
The boys were keen to pull their boots on at Hoxton Park for the three-day tournament.
The Western side includes players from Orange, Bathurst, Dubbo, Wellington, Rylstone, Mudgee, Gulgong, Forbes, Parkes, Cowra, Blayney and Condobolin.
Orange is represented by Ben Blimka and Mason Pollack, while Blayney’s Mayson McPaul is also part of the team.
Last year the team enjoyed one win at the PSSA event and finished last out of 11 sides.
This year they plan to do better.
There are four players returning from last year’s side.
The players agreed the team’s strength this year is its defence but they were quick to add they also have plenty in attack.
Western will take on Riverina, Polding and Sydney West today.
In tomorrow’s matches they line up against North West and Sydney South West.
Positional play-offs will be held on Thursday.
