Cowling, coming from a recent open Country Metropolitan Championships win in 25 metre standard pistol and 25m ladies sports pistol at Sydney’s International Shooting Centre a fortnight prior, followed up at Orange with solid open wins in both 25m ladies sports pistol and 10m ladies air pistol.
The club was also well represented at the competition by recent new members Ralph Kidd, Andrew Hill and Josh Bobeldyke, who braved the debut nerves to put in creditable efforts.
Kidd on his first competition finished with a first place in D grade men’s 25m sports pistol and a second in 10m men’s air pistol.
Hill did well to finish with a well earned second place in D grade men’s 10m air pistol.
Bobeldyke was unlucky not to finish with a place but is on track for future success.
The big result of the weekend occurred with Peter Brus rounding up his Australian representative dad, Dean, in air pistol.
Peter ended with a win in junior air 60 C grade, with a score of 517/600, but managed to round dad up in the process by 20-odd points.
Peter’s win over Dean should provide a good spectacle next time the two go head-to-head in air pistol.
