The 52-year-old will not stand at the September election, making good on a promise the member for Lalor made prior to calling a leadership ballot for the evening of June 26.
Ms Gillard's fall from the Prime Minister position came just a day after the three-year anniversary of her rise to the job in very similar circumstances, rolling Mr Rudd in a leadership ballot. Ms Gillard would later declare she made a move against the now-PM after coming to the belief that 'a good government had lost its way'.
