The iPhone app assignment was launched a few days before new year festivities and asked participants to submit a photo of how they celebrated the event.
Tim Crowhurst submitted a couple of photos of his family’s backyard celebrations, including this one of Max, his 10-year-old Rottweiler.
“He’s part of the family,” he said.
“I’ve submitted a couple to other assignments.”
The winning entry scored Mr Crowhurst a family pass to the movies.
“I haven’t been [to the movies] for a long time because I know it’s not cheap,” he said.
Mr Crowhurst downloaded the CWD’s free iPhone app last month and said he used it to check out the latest news every day.
“It was by accident that I pushed the report button,” he said of discovering he could also contribute to the CWD.
The app allows users to send reporters their news tips and photos.
Another app assignment asks for readers to send in summer holiday photos for their chance to win a double movie pass.
It does not matter whether you are holidaying in Australia or further afield, we would love to see your great holiday snaps.
Entries for summer holiday photos must be submitted by midnight on Thursday, January 10.
If you are yet to download the free iPhone app head to the App Store and search for Central Western Daily to keep up-to-date with the latest news from around Orange.
