Breaking Dawn Part 2 is the fifth film in the series and marked the end of an era for the characters which started off in books before becoming a global movie phenomena.
Kristen Stewart, Robert Pattinson and Taylor Lautner, who play lead roles all five movies, started off as relative unknowns in 2008 with the release of the first movie, but have since become stars in their own right.
Odeon 5 Cinema manager Helen Oliver said 220 eager movie goers lined up to see the new blockbuster.
“I think people want to see the end of the story but I think there hasn’t been as much hype as with the other ones,” she said.
Ms Oliver said earlier that night they had re-screened Breaking Dawn Part 1 for fans to take up where they had left off with their beloved characters.
When Breaking Dawn Part 1 was released late last year the special midnight session was completely sold out, Ms Oliver said.
Fan of the series Kayla Rousell attended a daytime session of Breaking Dawn Part 2 yesterday and said she couldn’t wait to see it.
“I’ve read all the books more than once and I love them,” she said.
“I’ve go the whole collection on DVD and have watched them all a few times,” another Twilight fan Catherine McDonald said.
Over the next seven days Breaking Dawn Part 2 will be screened 42 times, with a number of group bookings for charity also booked in.
