Hundreds of entry forms have been received by the Central Western Daily since the promotion to encourage people to shop locally was launched.
It was during a shopping trip to House in Orange City Centre that Mrs Ironside filled in a form and popped it into the entry box.
“I’ve never even thought about it I just filled out the form,” she said.
When CWD managing editor Tony Rhead called Mrs Ironside yesterday to tell her she had won the week one draw, his call was met with shock.
“I was just surprised, I was having a busy day doing the housework,” she said.
Mrs Ironside won over $700 worth of goods including wine, kitchen knives, books and a modern table lamp.
She said the gifts will help in the lead- up to Christmas with a number of the books already pegged as presents for her grandchildren.
While the Wild Oats shiraz will probably be given to her husband who “loves a good shiraz”.
Mrs Ironside said she takes part in the Festive Frenzy each year but has never won anything before yesterday.
“It’s exciting, it’s just great,” she said.
Mr Rhead said in its first week the competition has been remarkably popular.
“Our advertising staff collected hundreds of tickets from participating business yesterday and I expect shoppers interest will increase.
”This year’s major prize is a $6000 spending spree with Harvey Norman in Orange.
